Valentine's Day Date Night Ideas in Rhode Island

From cozy seaside dinners to unique local experiences.

I recently started a substack but thought I would share some of my posts and thoughts back on here as well. It has been quite some time since I shared anything on here but I wanted to get back into writing and I thought it would be fun to suggest some Valentine’s Day date night ideas for those in the Ocean State. Here are my top five suggestions for those of you also living in this tiny state.

1. A Seaside Dinner at Castle Hill Inn (Newport)

Indulge in an elegant, waterfront dining experience with a prix-fixe Valentine’s Day menu. Enjoy stunning views of Narragansett Bay while savoring fresh, seasonal dishes paired with wine. Bonus points if you time it with the sunset.

2. Couples’ Skating at Providence Rink

For something playful and cozy, lace up your skates and glide under the twinkling lights of the Providence Rink. Now if you know me, this would not be something I would necessarily choose due to my weak ankles or disdain for ice skating but they do have ice bumper cars that I enjoy. Either way, it’s something to do if that’s your cup of tea. Warm up afterward with cocktails (or mocktails!) at a nearby spot like The Eddy.

3. Cozy Igloos at The Loom Hotel/The Brook Kitchen + Bar (Warwick)

Snuggle up in one of the enchanting outdoor igloos at The Brook Kitchen + Bar. I may be biased since I may or may not have something to do with this spot but these private, heated spaces offer a unique dining experience perfect for Valentine’s Day. Pair your evening with their thoughtfully curated menu and seasonal cocktails for a truly magical night. (Make your reservation on OpenTable and follow them on social! K thanks!)

4. A Historic Evening in Wickford Village

Stroll hand-in-hand through this charming coastal village, dotted with boutique shops and art galleries. Finish the evening with dinner at Tavern by the Sea, known for its cozy ambiance and delightful menu or head a town over to East Greenwich and try one of the amazing restaurants there. A few favorites would be Providence Oyster Bar of EG, Meritage, or Sombra.

5. Staycation with a Romantic Dinner at The Weekapaug Inn (Westerly)

Book an overnight stay at this luxurious inn or simply enjoy a romantic dinner overlooking the water. Their farm-to-table menu and serene setting make for an unforgettable Valentine’s Day. While I haven’t had the opportunity to spend the night in the inn yet, everything about this property is a dream. It is definitely on my Rhode Island bucket list.

Let me know if you choose to spend your Valentine’s Day at one of these classic Rhode Island spots.

Rhode Island Restaurant Bucket List

It feels like we have not been out to eat in ages. I started this quarantine a bit earlier than everyone else, March 10th, since I was sick (unrelated to COVID-19). There is so much going on right now that I have been looking for the positives and trying to focus on the future knowing that we will get through this.

I thought I would start a Rhode Island bucket list of things I want to do when we get to return to “normal” life. I am going to start by sharing the restaurants that I want to try. I cannot believe how many places I have not had the chance to eat.
